Join a Sunday trip to Østre Randøya aboard MB Høllen. Explore the coastal fortress, visit the underground command center, and enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery.
Join a historical Sunday trip to Østre Randøya on board the traditional boat MB Høllen. The journey starts from Kai 6 and Lumber, arriving at Randøya, where a unique experience awaits. Together with guide Geirulf Stoveland, we follow the old postal route along Skippergada before exploring the coastal fortress, an impressive structure extending deep into the mountain.
Here, you get a rare opportunity to enter the former command center and the large underground hall, 20 meters below ground. Geirulf will share the history of the fortress, from its construction by the Germans during World War II to its role in Norway’s coastal defense until 1995. Randøya offers not only military history but also beautiful nature and a charming beach at Buholmsanden.
MB Høllen, built in 1967, has a rich history in the southern Norwegian archipelago. Originally used for passenger transport, postal service, and medical transport, it is now preserved by Bragdøya Coastal Heritage Association. After the island visit, the boat returns to Lumber and Kai 6. Bring your own packed lunch and enjoy a journey filled with history and stunning coastal views.
Departure from Kai 6 at 10:00 and Lumber at 10:30. Return from Randøya at 13:30, arriving at Lumber at 14:15 and Kai 6 at 14:45. Bring your own packed lunch. The trip is arranged with support from Agder County Municipality.
